Arai XD3 Dual-Sport Helmet
$584.95–$614.95
Order Code: AXD3
Introducing Arai’s XD3 Dual-Sport helmet, combining the off-road features of a peak and goggle opening with the full face-shield of a street helmet to give you maximum versatility. XD means “crossover design” because it crosses over into so many riding styles; you can quickly and easily change the helmet/shield/peak combination for adventure touring, dual-sport, supermoto, commuting, or street riding.
The XD3 is packed with the high-tech features that Arai is famous for; from Arai’s proprietary aerospace fiberglass technology to achieve a strong, flexible shell, to the vents located on the inside of the helmet that aid in drawing out hot air and prevents fogging of the face shield. Other features include:
- A total of five intake and seven exhaust vents
- Single-piece hybrid EPS liner
- Emergency Cheek-Pad Release System—the XD3’s cheek-pads slide out easily to make emergency helmet removal easier
- Dry-cool lining materials—improved heat and moisture transfer for faster drying between rides
- Pull-down chin spoiler—helps to further reduce wind noise and enhancing the flow of air from the mouth area
- Easily removable peak and a full-featured shield that can be worn in any combination
- DOT and Snell approved
- It’s an Arai
Which Size Should I Buy?
A helmet properly fitted should feel comfortably snug but not tight. If you feel concentrated pressure points when you put your helmet on, that pressure will annoy you more as time goes by. When you shake your head, your helmet should not move freely, relative to your head. To find your helmet size, measure the circumference around your head with a tape measure, crossing your forehead and above your ears. Use that dimension in inches to find the correct size in the chart.
What About Head Shape?
Not all heads are shaped the same way. If you feel that a helmet doesn’t feel comfortable—maybe it’s comfortable side-to-side but tight front-to-back—don’t keep it. Return it to us for a full refund. Different helmet makers use slightly different shapes when they mold their helmets. Perhaps a different brand of helmet will fit your head better. The important thing is to wear your helmet when you ride; you probably won’t want to if it doesn’t fit properly.
Which Color Should I Buy?
The quick answer is, whichever color you like best, as long as you do wear a helmet. The most important thing is to wear a helmet whenever you ride. All our helmets are in colors that will look good with any motorcycle. But, you might also consider conspicuity. We’ve noticed in long-distance trips that a rider wearing a white helmet can be seen from a much longer distance than a rider wearing a darker helmet. Start watching and see if you don’t agree.

Having worn my XD3 to Colorado and back on several dual-sport rides, it has become one of my favorite helmets. Because the helmet is comfortable, durable, multifunctional and stylish, I get to have my cake and eat it, too.
